{Show me your teeth}

I am so lucky to have the opportunity to do what I absolutely love and share it with other families. I couldn't wait to get home and see these pictures. Remember the old days of developing film and having to wait to open the package and flip through the pictures. You gotta love digital!

"Show Ms. Marie your teeth" is how the photo shoot started and that last image is how it ended. Isn't it appropriate? It was just a great day to be out.

{The kids}

If you read my blog you understand I prefer not "pose" people but rather I like to watch people and just let it happen. We tried to pose these two today and they just wouldn't have it. So we took it to the piano and we took it outside and they had a blast. We had to cover mommy in leaves at one point (she was a good sport) and hang them upside down.. but hey, whatever it takes. I had to be the chaser, we had to play peek-a-boo and clean up and we had fun!!

Julie- they actually turned out great and I had more than I thought. This is just the sneak peek! Enjoy!

Storyboards

Storyboards are creative ways to get multiple pictures on one canvas or hard mounting material. They can be square or rectangular. You can add quotations or a name. You can choose a background color.

I have seen family storyboards like the one above. I have seen "Baby Bits" square storyboards where each small picture on the board has a little baby part- baby feet, baby rolls, baby belly, baby hand - you get the idea. They are unique ways of displaying your favorite portraits. If you are interested in one please let me know. I have put two different samples above to view. The Ross Family

Meet the Ross Family - Floyd, Carolyn and Denton... Carolyn has been wanting some pictures by the creek for a couple of months now. I did not find what she was looking for.. but a very kind person graciously allowed us to shoot our session on his property - THANK YOU!! The session came out better than I had anticipated. And our location was AWESOME!

I had a great time.... hope you like the pictures as much as I do!

Love her eyes

I love this picture... but I laugh because I know some people will say, "it's a floating head". She has a black feather boa on. In both color and black and white it just all fades to black but I keep coming back to it because of her eyes. In the photography world we look at pictures of our children with "Mommy Goggles" and with this picture I know that this is the case.

But I post this for another reason. My photography isn't always dead center and in complete focus. It isn't always posed. That is why some call my my style photojournalistic or lifestyle photography. I try to catch life as it happens and I try to capture it from different angles. I LOVE this type of photography, but I know it is not for everyone. So when you call me, let me know what your vision is for your portraits.

Do you think that is a pretty fancy set up for a six year old's birthday party? That table top creation was designed by my husband. You can just see the years he spent helping his mother out in the catering business. For the past two years his table's have been over the top. I am so glad he helps me - he has a gift.

We had friends and family over in the afternoon for cake, pinata, pin the tail on the donkey, gifts etc. At one point I looked out the window and saw kids hanging from trees, boys playing football, a game of tag, kids playing in trucks, the girls socializing in a group all at one time. It looked like a real circus. They had a great time. Later, Madeleine and her girlfriends went to Libby Lu's. For those of you with daughters, if you have never heard of this place, Libby Lu's is a dream come true for little girls. They dress them up, do their hair, paint their nails and apply age appropriate make up and sparkles. Madeleine chose the princess makeover. The girls chose to be teen idols, princesses and pop stars and closed it out with a fashion show. They had a blast. Madeleine had her first real slumber party and amazingly they were all asleep by 11:00 pm.

We had a blast but we are glad it's over. Every year this birthday thing gets harder and harder.

Oh Baby!

My first maternity shots... I don't know who was more nervous. In the end, we both had a great time. Let me say this, women have come a long way. Last night as I was researching some creative maternity shots I was blown away. Yes, I saw beautiful portraits, I saw glowing women, I saw love for the unborn. And I also some ladies go "in the buff" for their portraits.

M- You were a trooper. I hope you are as happy with the images as I am. I learned from our shoot today and as a photographer I hope that is something I never forget. Now I really have BABY FEVER!
